1839: Jesse entered a land claim in
Township 33, Range 20 in Dallas County, Missouri.

1850: Jesse was a farmer and living with
his father in Polk County, Missouri. He was married and had two small
daughters. 
September 13, 1856: The Bolivar Courier
announced that Jesse and his brother, Asa R. (3016)
settled the estate of their father Eli in Dallas County, Missouri
[Stanley,1982]
1860: Jesse and his family were farming in
Benton Township, Dallas County, Missouri. 
December 6, 1860: Jesse bought at public
auction for $10 Lot 1 SW fr 1/4 Section 4, Township 34, Range 20 in Dallas
County, Missouri. [DC deed A:41]
1870: Jesse was farming in Benton
Township, Dallas County, Missouri. The value of his real property was $5000 and
his personal property $1135. Jesse was the Ass't Marshall and took the census
for all of Dallas County. He had some difficulties since they did not send him
enough pages and they changed some township boundaries.

November 11, 1878: Jesse died intestate
in Dallas County, Missouri. The estate was administered by his son, John N. and
the security was posted by Asa R. Vanderford (3016), his
brother, and J. J. VanHorn. [MoPioneers]
1880: Margaret, Jesse's widow was farming
in Benton Township, Dallas County, Missouri. Living at home were Lucille,
George and Samantha and her new husband, John Wells.

July 28, 1882 and December 7, 1882: After
Jesse's death 5 land grant certificates were recorded for 193.55 acres in
Dallas County, Missouri. The certificates were #13,964 Dec. 15, 1854; #19,924
May 15, 1857; #21233 Oct. 30, 1857; #27,003 Mar. 1, 1860 and #28,351 June 1,

1900: Margaret, Jesse's widow, was living
with her widowed daughter Ella Boyer. They owned a farm in Mustang Township,
Canadian County, Oklahoma.
