1850:
Eli and his family were farming in Mercer County, Missouri.

1860:
Eli lived in Madison Township, Mercer County, Missouri with his wife (Christina), 3 sons (William, Eli and John) and 3 daughters (Susannah, Amanda and Nancy). He was a farmer and the appraised value of his real property $2000 and his personal property was $2000. The five oldest children attended school.

May 1, 1865 (recorded September 27, 1866):
Eli purchased for $100 the North East Quarter of the South West Quarter in Section 13, Township 63, Range 25 in Grundy County, Missouri. [GrC deed R:98]

1870:
Eli and his son Eli were farming in Madison Township, Mercer County, Missouri. His son William (4061) and his daughter Amanda (4147) were farming on either side of him.. The value of his real property was $6000.

1880:
Eli and his wife were farming in Madison Township, Mercer County, Missouri.

1900:
Christina, Eli's widow, was living in Madison Township, Mercer County, Missouri.

1910:
Christina, Eli's widow, was living in Madison Township, Mercer County, Missouri with her daughter Amanda and her husband George Nigh who was a farmer.
